Welcome to O‘ahu

O'ahu is home to State capital Honolulu and so, unlike its sister islands, offers a unique big city beachside vibe with everything you'd expect including dining and shopping as well as a rich cultural heritage. But venture 30 minutes out of town and you could be in a different world. The east coast offers emerald green rippled mountain ranges and quiet beaches and bays. Stop along the way to Kualoa Ranch, the backdrop to movies like Jurassic Park and Jumanji, for a host of different tour experiences, before continuing on to the famous Food Trucks at Kahuku Sugar Mill. The North Shore is the birthplace of big wave surfing and in winter, you'll find pro surfers practicing and competing at world famous beaches such as Waimea Bay and Pipeline. The pretty surf town of Haleiwa is the hub of this part of the island and great for souvenir shopping, markets and cafe's. Central O'ahu is home to pineapple plantations offering a range of tour and shopping experiences.

Discover the Magic of O‘ahu

When visiting O'ahu, a trip to 'Iolani Palace - the only royal palace in the United States - is a must to learn more about the Hawaiian monarchy. Equally worthwhile is the Bishop Museum, which offers an in-depth exploration of the islands' history and culture. Nature enthusiasts can enjoy a mindful hike up the famous Lē'ahi (Diamond Head Crater) for breathtaking views over Waikīkī and it's iconic beach, which is the perfect place to take a surf lesson with its shallow water and gentle waves. A true highlight is snorkelling in the protected Hanauma Bay, a marine reserve teeming with vibrant coral and tropical marine life. And for a special cultural experience, consider attending a traditional lū'au with hula dancing and Hawaiian cuisine.
